W and WD series
Alfa Laval W and WD Series includes two types of models. The W models have been designed specifically for whey skimming. Our WD models can combine whey skimming and clarification in one stage. The W and WD Series is available in a wide range of sizes with innovative features to ensure efficient, reliable, and cost-saving operation.

Two superior types of whey separators
The purpose of whey separation is to recover fat, while ensuring that the skimmed whey is as free from fat as possible. Low fat content is important for facilitating the downstream treatment and enhances the value of the whey. Alfa Laval’s W and WD separators have been designed for exactly this purpose. The WD Series combines clarification and skimming in one step, thanks to a clarification section inside the bowl that makes it possible to utilize pre-filtered whey (i.e., without using a whey clarifier first). Combining these in one step reduces both investment costs and the installation footprint.
